Lets use a little rewind button to go back to the friday of the long weekend that just passed here in Canada, not sure if the U.S. gets it as well or not.
So our company decides to go out for some drinks at 3:00pm, the sales department not the whole company. So we go out to a nice little bar, kinda ritsy meets brothel. By brothel i mean lots of watresses in short shorts and a deer in the head lights type smile no matter the weather. And by nice little bar, i mean expensive menu and pretty lighting.
As we sit there talking to one another it becomes evident that i in no way fit in to this group that i have been forced, by corporate politness, to drink with. Firstly when we sat down everyone starts talking about their kids. i mean i dont mind, i love the little puffy checked mini- people but why do i need to hear 7 stories instead of, umm i dunno 2? Then they start talking about marriage blah blah blah so on and so forth, im sure you understand where this whole convo went, into clique territory, thats how married with children adults act, like cliques! Any who then they asked me how i hurt my neck....
.. ya i hurt my neck. long story short i turned off my alarm clock when it woke me up at 6:00 am because i decided that i could use to sleep an extra half an hour. An hour and a half later my mom burts through my doors telling me im late. okay she didnt tell me so much as yell at the top of her lungs that i was late. so i got up and whipped around to look at her. i must have moved my neck too much too fast or something because it was four days before i could move it again.
... back to the my story. so i tell them this and of course i get the "oh your mom wakes you up?" no she does not wake me up, she just had to kinda sorta remind me that i was gonna be late if i didnt get up! and then they go on and on about how "when you have kids young lady your life is going to change blah blah blah" okay so now im uncomfortable because they all seem to believe that because i dont need to get up at 5:00 am like the rest of them, because i dont have kids to feed like the rest of them, it means that i am obviously missing out on a life lesson and am therefore less competent then they are or and also most likely one of those spoiled party animal teenagers they all see on their T.V.'s. i think this because of the chorus of voices singing what life was like when they were my age, meaning "you've got it good and o poor us we didnt even have alarm clocks when we were your age."
So then the waitress comes by to take our orders and they went something like this " gin and tonic, gin and tonic, gin and tonic, corona, gin and tonic ect ect" you can imagine who ordered the corona.... annndd the nacho's :) so of course the waitress looks at me and says " sweety, (insert doe eye'd stare here) could i please see some ID?" Everyone just dies of laughter. *sigh* yes im embarrassed and now am pretty sure i just dont belong in this office full of people who are worlds apart from me, or inleast believe they are. Because if they believe that, well they may just believe im not cut out to take on the responsibilities that they can and i can tell you thats not true. I may be young but my age has nothing to do with my creativity, problem solving abailities or multi tasking skills and i also spent 4 years to get that degree sitting in my bedroom, and am not about to have my age stop me from being a sucess.
so lets fast forward back to today. i come into the office in long shorts ( these are the ones that go up to your knees) they arent jean they are cotton and colored in a forest green color. With them i am wearing a nice white t-shirt and to make it look a little more work place admissible i am wearing gold jewelry. anyways i get called into my bosses office where she says " so the president has a very strict dress code, and well i know that your outfit is super cute and all, but you are technically just wearing shorts and a t-shirt so ya... but you dont have to explain to me at all i totally get it" she never talks like this number one. never has she ever said "totally" or "super cute" so two things about this now upset me. 1. no i am not just wearing a t-shrt and shorts, i mean then you can technically say when i come in here with black pants and a t-shirt that im just wearing pants and a t-shirt. 2. Why are you talking to me like im someone from the Hills?! what do you mean 'super cute'! i dont know why but it infuriated me to be talked to like that. i dont know why, not even a big deal, but that coupled with last fridays event just made me soo angry.
so the moral of the story today is.... im PMS'ing and i hate people who talk to much about their damn kids.
