Being 24 isnt exactly easy.
A few of the bloggers that i've been keeping up with write about it... the twenty somethings....or the new twenty somethings.
For a not-a-girl-not-yet-a-woman this stage feels like walking on glass eggshells in my granny panties.. think about it, you'll get it in a minute.
Every day its a crowd of thoughts.. the practical ones like:
"when will i get my own place, what do i want to do with the rest of my life, what kind of person do i want to be. "
and then there's the ninja cluster fucks... those thoughts that distract you when your innocently trying to have a conversation with someone, or watching a perfectly good romantic comedy with a hot male lead:
"am i fat? cuz i feel like i could deliver a fucking watermelon through these hips... and not even feel it! i should have just done the cardio instead of leaving early to watch Gossip Girl... fuck it Marylin Monroe was a size 14 or something...."
" why hasn't my boyfriend called me yet... maybe hes done with me.... maybe hes pulling away..... maybe he noticed how big my hips are and now hes thinking about getting back together with his ex because she doesnt have any hips... fuck her anyway i hate skinny bitches"
" why did i say that... that was so rude! now there gonna think im a bitch... fuck it, its not like the world revolves around me and my big fucking hips"
Here's the thing, i may have exaggerated those a bit for humor and shit, but not by much my friends, not by much. Its not just me, its every almost-woman i know. Weve reverted, back to 14 year old girls trying to figure out who we were!
The thing is everyone reassures you in high school " dont worry sweety, the jock will end up washing your car" or "this stage means nothing later"
But now its dawning on us... in the back of our heads we know were nearing the time when its suppose to start mattering. So now those kind reassurances are turning into questions " do you want to wash cars for the rest of your life or are you going to get off your ass?"
Instead of answering we drown ourselves in stuff... facebook and clothes and TV and clothes... until the real cause of our anxiety is buried under enough sheeps clothing that we cant even remember what it felt like to worry about reality anymore.... yes and these are the people that will one day rule the world.. blah blah blah... deal with it.
Thats all she wrote folks... im off to dunk my head in a vat of technology and shake the twenty something disease clear off.

Ok, so now you know there's such a thing as a quarter life crisis - trust me, everyone goes through it, turning 25 is the clincher.
Sounds like you're nearing yours.
Don't worry though once you reach the other side (nearing to 30) you start taking action, right or wrong just so long as some action is being taken in any size, shape or form.
It's this stage of indecision that's the hardest to get through.
I hope the 30's are little easier but, personally, I'm looking forward to the not-giving-a-fuck-anymore phase. I hear that comes around in your 40s - hope that's true.
I know it is cliche, but figuring out what you want to do in life and who you want to be is a life long process. The important thing is to try something, anything!
