if i dont vent i will explode

Okay im feeling like a bit of a kettle over here and this kettle has been wistling forever, but ive been ignoring it, hoping it would stop on its on or something.

I need to quit my job. i cant believe im even thinking that!!! This is the job that's going to take me exactly where i need to go.im a marketing coordinator for fucks sakes... I HAVE MY OWN OFFICE, its a CORNER office!!!!!! i get paid well for my age actually, and i worked my ass off to get here, but all i can keep thinking about is that this just doesn't feel right!

I have always wanted to travel and write freelance. actually all ive ever wanted to do is write if you can already tell by my little novela going on over here. But im also dying to just get out there, working 9 - 5 in this office is beginning to suffocate me, and its not because im just lazy or anything like that, its not because im 23 and just want to party all the time, its more than that.

When i graduated high school i told my dad that i wanted to take a year off and travel, he looked at me like i was an alien! he said that he understood this need and believed that once i graduated university then yes, i should definitely travel but many people say they will go back to school after and never do, and he just didn't think it was a wise choice. I agreed so i went to University and i tried to figure out what it was i wanted to do and came up empty with a guess that i could be good at marketing.

Then after University i wanted to continue working my part time job and travel, the hours were easier at my last job and my boss was really lax about vacations. But then my sister got a job at apple and everyone was like " hey connie, you gonna start putting that degree to work or what?" my dad complained that he had spent alot of money to get me to have something he didn't, a degree. So i searched from October to March and here i am.

But now its starting to become less of a want and more of a need. I'm 23 years old, i have my own life plan mapped out that is completely different from my parents plan. By now they were having me, working full time jobs and trying to find a place to live. im not at that same stage.

Im thinking that by 30 i want a family, a home, and a full time job doing what i love. But right now i want to get the travelling and all the experiences out of my system in least a bit. If i don't im pretty sure ill have a mid life crisis early!!!

But A) where in the hell would i ever get the cash for that? save up you say? ohhhh welll yes of course, but my parents want us to be out of the house by 24. THATS IN 10 MONTHS!!! and im not saying that they would kick me out if i didn't but jesus christ and all the saints i will not hear the end of it if im not out of there soon. im already hearing about how so and so's kid has his own condo and is working at such and such making great money.... SCREW SO and SO's kid!!!

and B) my parents would have a heart attack if i suggested doing this. not that i care enough to not do it, but i would like there support and not have to hear about how im ruining my life or wasting the degree they got me.. HA! news flash guys I got the degree YOU may have paid the bill but i sat in those classes and did those essays not you! and the degree is good for LIFE. why do i have to use it at this very moment!

so now this itch to just get out there and go has become more of a burn in my ass, but i cant do anything about it. im stuck!!!

Suggestions!!!???? advice!!?? i need some. Has anyone ever had this feeling before?
if so what did you do about it??

OMG, everyday we're more and more alike! I totally know what you're talking about. Granted I'm older and am now past that stage that you're in. But here in a nut shell is what I did. Graduated from school went to college for 4 years two diplomas later couldn't get a job! In either field, still living at home and soon to be 22. So I looked for a job in a different country, all expense paid including living expenses. Did that for one year. Got the travelling in, outta the house in, and work experience in! Best year of my life till of course becoming a wife and mother. Just a suggestion! If you have any questions, send email directly!

Well, it sounds like you have a good and steady income, you're single, living with your parents so not a whole lot of bills, no college loans if your parents paid for it... there is no reason why you can't save up to travel. It just takes some planning and budgeting. And nothing says that you can't do your travel in stages, you don't have to get it all out of your system in one go. My husband and I try to take one longish trip every year. This year that trip is in country, but next year it won't be.

Just find out when the best times are to go wherever you want to go (Shoulder season, off-peak seasons, etc. are usually the cheapest, but do your research carefully otherwise you might run into hurricanes, etc.). Then give your work plenty of notice (several months at least) that you'll be out for a few weeks. That will also give you time to save up the money you've budgeted for yourself after more careful research. For me, half the joy of taking a trip is in the planning.

Want to backpack through Europe? Do it in stages. It might be more expensive in the long run because you'll be paying for multiple flights, but you will enjoy it way more for having the time to actually take in everything, instead of rushing to get to your next destination. Just my two cents.

i know your right Anna. I should be taking my time and saving my money and planning these trips in segmants, but i am the most inpatient individual i know.

I always think about this story i heard once, about this woman who bought this dress and everyday she says " ill wear it someday" and she waits for the perfect moment but the perfect moment doesn't come. When she passes away the box is still in her closet untouched.

So i guess i get a little ahead of myself, always upset that i cant do what i want at this very moment and then scared that because of that i never will. Stupid i know. but your right though, i just need some patience and some good budgetary skills. thanks for your comment :)
